The cut
has to be
clean.

A short letter about why a swap should be a single motion — not a sequence of interlopers who each take a cut.

I · ONE MOTION

A brushstroke is a decision.

The brush touches the paper, moves, and lifts. There is one line, and it is the line the painter meant. Nothing sneaks in between the intention and the ink.

A swap should work the same way. You see a price. You sign. It settles. The price you were shown is the price you get. That is the whole promise, and it should not need a footnote.

II · WHAT HAPPENS

A silent tax paid by both sides.

On an ordinary AMM, your swap is a public thing between the moment you sign and the moment the block closes. In those seconds, a bot buys in front of you and sells behind. Another one reorders the block. Slippage widens because your intent is visible.

The tax is silent. You don't get a receipt for it. But it is paid — by you, and by the LPs who provided the liquidity in the first place.

PULL QUOTE

The shown price is the defended price. There is no hidden second version of the trade.

III · A HOOK IS A ROOM

Inside the swap. Before it settles.

Uniswap v4 gave us hooks: code that runs inside the swap, before it settles, in the same transaction. Not off to the side. Not with a trusted relay. Inside the room.

SUMI is the room where the stroke happens. When your swap enters, SUMI reads the honest price, scores whether the flow around it looks predatory, and — if it does — charges only the predatory portion. Your uninformed order passes through cheap and clean.

The value that used to leak to a searcher sitting in the middle now stays where it started: with the trader and with the LPs.

IV · REAL YIELD

Real assets. Never emissions.

Anything a staker earns here is real. It is a share of what the hook actually recaptured from adversarial flow. Not printed tokens. Not emissions dressed up in a graph.

When trading is quiet, yields are small. When the mempool is angry, yields are larger. This is honest. We would rather report a small week than pretend an average week is a big one.

V · WHAT WE DON'T PROMISE

Precise about the boundary.

SUMI is not "MEV-proof." No hook alone can solve extraction at the builder or proposer level. We defend what we can see — in the block, on the pool, in the same transaction. We say so, plainly, in the docs.

We would rather be trusted for one clean stroke than doubted for a long list of ones we can't defend.

VI · THE STROKE

Here is what we ship.

A swap that lands where you signed. A pool where the value stays. A staker share that is real. A whitepaper that tells you what is not defended.

One stroke. One price. Ink does not lie.
